Welcome Back to OB's SL Tipping Malarkey

Bonjour tippers and welcome back all ye of the utmost faith in my ability to run a tipping competition. OB's Super League Tipping Competition is back for a second season. This year's winning prize has doubled to a massive £20. Imagine winning that!

The rules are barely changed from last year as they worked very well. If it ain't broke and all that.

Like last year, due to the World Club Challenge on 29 February there is one game on Sat 2 Feb. However this game will not count towards the scores. Thus the competition will begin with the official Round 1 fixtures on the weekend 8-10 February.

You can check this site or the associated Facebook group for the current list of fixtures. I will also email out the list of fixtures each week. It is up to you whether you want to send in your Tips by email or leave your tips on the Facebook page or on this site. The choice, as they say, is yours.

Points

1pt Game ends in a draw.

2pts Your predicted team wins

3pts From Round 4 onwards: If you predict a team from the bottom four to beat a team from the top and the bottom 4 side wins then you earn 3 points.

If players are tied on points they will be separated by how many times they claimed the top score each week.

If everyone can get the predictions by Thursday at the latest that would be acers. Each Friday I will publish the list of who tips who on the site.

If you miss a week no worries! You will be awarded the average of everybody's elses scores to the lowest round number. Eg a weekly average score of 4.8pts would result in being awarded 4pts. This will stop for the final three weeks - Rounds 25-27.

If a player misses 5 weeks of tipping then they will also be deducted 4 points.

The competition will end at the end of the regular season thus Play-Off fixtures including the Grand Final will not be included.

The full season fixtures will be online soon so if you are unavailable to send your tips due to holidays etc let me know.

Prizes: Each week the top scorer earns the right to be known as the Hero of Tipping. The worst performer will named as the 'John Barrowman of Tipping' and universally harassed.

The overall winner will collect a superb, top-of-the range £20 note and will be named the King or Queen of Tipping. A position currently held by the disreputable Russell Gough.

All this for no cost too for another season. What a bargain eh?

Cheers, I was wondering that. Good stuff. And spread el gospello if you know anyone else who'd like to join up.
