Super League XIII kicks off this evening with a clash between champions Leeds Rhinos and last season's surprise package Hull Kingston Rovers. This game has been brought forward due to Leeds' participation in the World Club Challenge at the end of the month and thus is not part of the Tipping League.
This will be an interesting test for both sides. Leeds have not signed any players in the off season and remain reliant on the championship winning side. Hull KR have spent big and have high hopes of making the top six. Chev Walker is the most high-profile signing and the ex Leeds centre will be determined to show his old club that his massive potential is being fulfilled. Big games from Jake Webster and Ben Galea will be required if the East Hull side are to topple the Rhinos in front what is hoped to be a crowd of 20,000.

Last night saw the start of the Northern Rail League Cup. Celtic Crusaders beat Sheffield Eagles at the Don Valley to begin their huge campaign for Super League acceptance this year.

Leeds Rhinos 20 - 12 Hull KR
Leeds came from behind to beat Hull KR in the Super League opener. A crowd of 18,467 witnessed Leeds come back from 12-8 down with ten minutes to go to earn a hard-fought win at a bitterly cold Headingley.
